This is Awkward

I don't know how to tell you this, so I'll just go right out and say it: I have been having the best few weeks of my life and I have not wanted to write on my blog. Sorry. But we can move on. 

Ha. It's funny how I cannot choose what to write about because I have had so much fun. So...I think I will put it off again. Sorry I'm so awkward.

Here we are

I should be in bed. I shouldn't be sooooooooo pumped up. But I'm not and I am, so I guess that should be a bad thing. But I don't think it is. Busy couple of weeks ahead. Summer, eh? Best day ever started one hour and twenty minutes ago.

The beginning of the end

This is it. The first real day of my last Strawberry Days as a child. This week may very well be the best week of my life. I have a hike to my favorite place. I have a group date with some of my favorite people. I won't get stuck on horse duty at Huck Finn Day. Seriously. It is Strawberry Days!!!!!

Let's be honest

Working a minimum of 36 hours this week, my uncle's wedding, going on a date with my good friend to said wedding, more work, and then one of the best weeks of the year, Strawberry Days. I am not sure, but I am pretty confident in saying that this Strawberry Days is going to be the best ever. Youth Council will be great, plus I mean it's Strawberry Days, it'd be great if it were in the middle of winter. I also have a hike and date planned for Wednesday, which will be amazing. Also, I have lactose pills with no conceivable end coming soon, which is necessary for a good amount of strawberry and cream goodness. 

This will be the second to last Strawberry Days I will attend. So far in my life (as far as I am aware), I have never, ever not gone to the rodeo at least once, even when my sunburn blistered. In fact, the only thing I wanted while in my excruciating sunburn pain was to be at the rodeo eating my favorite summer treat. I have never not loved Strawberry Days. This is the last one I will help with while being on Youth Council. This is the last Strawberry Days where I know I will have required school in two and a half months. This is the last time I will be able to go to Strawberry Days as a child.

Sometimes life goes by fast. I am grateful for this wonderful week for reminding me annually of what's to come. Just like this is the longest running tradition in Utah, the memories I got from these sixteen weeks of summer bliss are among the most cherished in my life. I feel that a great deal of my joy in life comes from the warm summer mornings I sat watching the parade which, while never being the biggest, was always the best. Trying to sleep in the solitude of winter seemed impossible without thinking of the best time of the year, thoughts which warmed me to want to press on, if only to make it to the third week in June. My life has forever been changed by Pleasant Grove and I give back to the city that raised me by helping with the best week of my annual life: Strawberry Days.

Unnecessary Grief

I like to cause unnecessary grief. Like on Saturday.3 minutes after I am supposed to be at the high school, I saw Nate Church from afar and decided to cause some stress:

Some items that highlighted my week

• Just knowing it was Strawberry Days.
• Going on a date with Brooke Arney.
• Finding this out (it's the first project)!
• Getting an almost direct answer to my prayers from a scripture I had marked the night before.
• Being able to help out with Huck Finn Day.
• My niece, Ellie, grabbing my shoulder with one hand while riding a horse.
• Going to a surprise party for my friend Chaz and fighting with noodles.
• Being asked by one of my heroes, Nate Church, to be the mascot for the parade.
• Being told by Mr. Beck that I would lose 4 lbs. during the parade, only to find out afterwards that he was not joking.
• Walking out of the school (dressed as the Viking) and instantly getting a horde of girls hugging me.
• Riding back to the high school without anyone dying.
• Ninjaing my way into the high school with Nate.
• Going to Yogurt Bliss and filling up on free samples.
• Going shooting twice in 42 hours.
• Not having to go to work today.

Why I will never complain about sunburns.

For those of you who are squeamish, do not view this post.

Like seriously. I was crying during Strawberry Days. It was really bad. How bad? You may ask. Well second degree bad (which, if you continue, you will see causes blisters). Wear sunscreen, kids.

And that is why I can stand a tiny bit of red skin.

And that is how I quite my first job.

I haven't quite managed to quit just yet, but it will happen soon. Stuff like this weekend must come to an end. It's ridiculous that I am only scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. I mean, seriously. Then stuff like last night. After finishing a seven hour shift, I check to see if I may go home. No, because that would be WAY to convenient for me. I have to do go-backs (basically putting stuff back that people brought to the register and did not want to buy). With a full cart of go-backs, sore legs, and my father waiting for me, I was not a courteous Courtesy Clerk. Such a joke. Luckily, with the help of my dad, I managed to finish in a half hour. Once tamsolutions tells me I have a job, I will two-week-notice my butt out of there.

From what I just wrote, it may seem like the worst to work at Macey's. However, there are some highlights. Like my favorite guest ever. As a fat lady passed in front of her car, a woman rolled down her window and asked me how many points she would get if she were to hit the large woman with her car. She totally made my night.

Another highlight is this: cream. Not just any cream, but the cream for strawberries and cream. It is nice to be able to eat strawberries and cream for dinner whilst on my break. I had to pay $11.00 extra because I needed Lactade pills (due to my intolerance to the sugar in milk), but it was so worth it.

Macey's may pay well and have strawberries and cream, but let's face it, on a Friday night I would much rather be with a girl.

I have been busy with work, school, and partying, so sorry for being less diligent here. To make it up to you, here are some of my top five lists:

Top 5 Reasons I Haven't Blogged
5. School. It was killing me. I mean tests until Friday? Come on!
4. Work. I am pretty sure I get scheduled the worst times possible for about 4 hours at a time. Whenever I want to blog, I am at work and have 3 more hours.
3. Lazy. I just never got around to it.
2. Partying. I mean, school is basically over.
1. Working with my family. I got seven or eight hours in yesterday. Then I had work for 5 more hours.

Top 5 Reasons Why Strawberry Days is the Best
5. It is the longest running celebration in all of Utah. Obviously everything gets better with age.
4. It is in the summer, which is the pinnacle of my existence. Thinking of Strawberry Days brings to mind staying out late, sleeping in and wearing shorts constantly.
3. It is in Pleasant Grove, the best city in the world, by far (with the exception of Lindon, which is a pretty close second). Can you imagine Strawberry Days of American Fork? That would suck so bad.
2. The rodeo and the parade. Just so much better than every other rodeo and parade. It is the only place where one can watch little children ride sheep.
1. Strawberries and Cream. The best food in the world. If I were rich, I would eat that everyday. It is amazing! If you have not tried it, do.

5. My aunt, Karie. She hasn't ever said anything, but she loves my blog. She is actually one of my favorite people in the whole world, and the reason why I hug a lot (she tells me I give very good hugs).
4. Mardi Thomas. She is so awesome though, I do not think I am allowed to do this without permission from her agent.
